It occurred to me the other day that the things we often tell our students to do to get better are the same things we tell ourselves while we’re practicing! Since most of us (teachers) were students at one time (and really still are!) we find that our students experience many of the same or at least similar problems that we encounter(ed) in playing. So how do we solve our own problems? We keep trying until we find solutions. It’s really not rocket science! And often these are the same methods and tools that we can use on our students. At the very least, that seems to be a really helpful entry level of exploring answers and solutions to their challenges. And then if those don’t work, keep digging, right? Kind of like we have to do for ourselves!! 🙂
